ICRS Ffestiniog 50th Anniversary Special
18th June 2007 to 19th June 2007

On 18 June 2007 the Imperial College Railway Society recreated a journey made on 27 April 1957 from Porthmadog Harbour to the North portal of Moelwyn tunnel to retrieve rolling stock and materials stranded by the impending flooding of the line in the creation of Tanygrisiau reservoir. The 2007 train included the Baldwin diesel locomotive "Moelwyn" that propelled the 1957 train and the passengers included five alumni of Imperial College who had been on the original trip. The train reached Dduallt, from where members of the group were able to walk the old trackbed to the South portal of the old tunnel.

Included are a few photographs from an independent visit the following day to view the deviation and find the other end of the tunnel.
